Brooklyn Firehouse Menu

Student Project, typography & layout

Brooklyn Firehouse is a project inspired by the many delightful gastropubs in Brooklyn. In class I called this “trendy” and a Manhattanite scoffed, because to her “trendy” meant clean lines, a Euro / Bauhaus style, and rooftop dining. In Brooklyn, on the other side of the universe, there is a food movement that has embraced the traditional and authentic, mixing of highbrow and lowbrow menu items, and appreciation of aging structures with exposed brick and original hardware and fixtures. The concept of this imaginary restaurant is that a gastropub style restaurant moved into an abandoned firehouse building, and celebrates the original structure while serving food that caters to bourgeois and basic palettes alike.
