Slow Fashion Rebel

Slow Fashion Rebel is a brand I created while studying graphic design at the New School. The goal was to create content around curating a handmade wardrobe, and connect with like-minded crafting enthusiasts. I achieved that and more, growing my following to around 2,500 in one year by focusing on community, authenticity and a streamlined aesthetic. Slow Fashion Rebel became the subject of a full branding project in school that included the hand drawn logo design, stationery, business card, a print ad, a brochure, and a presentation with all of the aforementioned. A selection of those projects are found here.

Logo, hand drawn with lettering digitized in Illustrator

In the real world (not design school), I used this brand to promote social media content that I created myself. I wrote scripts for, filmed, and edited smart, value-driven content for the modern maker. Most of the content out there for knitters and crafters is either instructional or chatty. With my background as a professional costumer and speaking as someone raised by studio artists, provided a unique voice in the crafting niche by talking about strategies for intentional creation. It started as just me, but then my knitting friend Sophie joined me. What you see pictured left is the most recent version of the logo that I use on my Etsy shop and on YouTube, and below is our current YouTube landing page.

This is an ad for the SlowFashionRebel Etsy store that I created from scratch and posted on Instagram. The script type “through Monday” is entirely hand-lettered and created in illustrator. the 20% off type is Gil Sans with hand-drawn decor illustrated on the surface. Slow Fashion Rebel Branding

What you see here is an updated version of the SFR branding project I did while in school. I would never print a brochure for an online content brand, but I was given that assignment and this is the result. The project features a business card, a trifold brochure, and a full page magazine ad.
